I love this Coteaux-Varois-en-Provence rouge Classique 2007, silver medal at Mâcon, firm in the mouth, delicate bouquet, nose of red fruit, truffle and humus, with ripe tannins in evidence, a wine that should be kept a while to make the most of its potential.
"Dark colour with ruby-red reflections, bright and clear, good viscosity. The open nose evokes jammy-ripe red and black fruit, cherry, blackberry, notes of macerated fruit, aromatic herbs, eucalyptus, very ripe black olives; decanted it has an added animal touch – game bird. The palate: pleasing attack, ample and round, confirming the aromas of the nose; evolution: powerful, harmonious, enough flesh to properly integrate the tannins. Altogether: balanced, generous, a good long finish and a touch of firmness." Score: 87/100
